15× Expansion Intumescent Fire Door Seal is a high-expansion passive fire protection seal designed for fire-rated doors requiring enhanced gap-filling performance. When exposed to high temperatures, the intumescent strip expands up to 15 times its original thickness, creating a barrier against fire, smoke, and hot gases.
The high expansion formulation provides greater sealing capability for larger door gaps and demanding fire protection applications. It is commonly installed in commercial, industrial, and institutional fire-rated door systems.

Intumescent Fire Door Seal can be used in compatible:
Important: Fire performance depends on the complete doorset, including the door leaf, frame, hardware, glazing, seal, installation method, and tested configuration. The seal should be used according to the manufacturer's specifications and applicable fire-test requirements.
| Property | Specification |
|---|---|
| Product Type | High Expansion Intumescent Fire Door Seal |
| Expansion Ratio | 15× |
| Activation Temperature | ≥200°C |
| Material | Intumescent Compound |
| Application | Fire-Rated Doors |
| Function | Fire & Smoke Protection |
Under normal conditions, the intumescent seal remains in a compact state and allows the door to open and close normally.
When exposed to high temperatures during a fire, the intumescent material begins to expand. It forms a heat-resistant char that fills the gap between the door and frame, helping to reduce the passage of flames, hot gases, and smoke.
The expansion behavior depends on the formulation, thickness, activation temperature, installation configuration, and test conditions.
For kerf-fit versions, the intumescent seal is inserted into a prepared groove around the door leaf or frame. The groove dimensions should match the manufacturer's recommended installation requirements.
For adhesive-backed versions, clean and dry the mounting surface before installation. Remove the release liner and press the seal firmly into position around the specified door perimeter.
Do not modify the seal, groove dimensions, or installation configuration when doing so would invalidate the applicable fire-test specification.
